Blonde Brownies flood me with memories, reminding me of traditions, family and friends. These delicious treats were a staple in my home while growing up. Mother typically prepared them for after-school treats, slumber parties, and any family/friend get-together. My cousin, whom I’ve not seen or talked to in many years, wrote this week, asking for the recipe. I was surprised and delighted to share it with him, as he remembers “Aunt Edythe” serving them whenever he and his family visited.
- 2 cups sifted Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 package Chocolate Chips (12 oz)
- 2/3 cup Butter
- 2 cups Brown Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in saucepan. Add brown sugar. Remove from stove and cool.
- Beat eggs in mixer. Add cooled brown sugar mix, then other ingredients, except for chocolate chips. Spread mixture on greased cookie sheet or in 9x13 pan. Press chips on top (I use the back of a spoon to press them down gently.) Bake: 25 minutes.
